Description
Mito School tsuba decorated with Daruma, legendary buddhist monk that lived in 5th or 6th century. On seppa dai there is carved Song dynasty poem. I am very sorry but I do not know Chinese nor am I educated enough to make an interpretation. This is only information I was able to get:Name of the poem is "
Full text of the poem is:
"
Rough translation of the part carved on tsuba:
"
Didn't inherit the noble position, front teeth got beaten by somebody and fallen off"
Tsuba made of polished yamagane with inlaid gold dots.
Made in Edo period.
Size: 82 mm x 78 mm x 4 mm
