Circle-shaped iron Tsuba with Kozuka & Kougai holes
The old Shingen-style Tsuba initially had a large Mokkou shape, and the chrysanthemum pattern was engraved with the Sukashi-Bori (openwork) technique. However, many of them are almost no longer exist, unfortunately. Existing Shingen Tsubas are typically circle-shaped and made from iron. Fine wires of copper or brass are coiled or braided like a basket. Also, there is another type of Shingen Tsuba that a brass-made centipede crawls at Tsuba’s edge. There are some theories about the origin of Shingen Tsuba. For example, it was made based on the taste of Takeda Shingen (武田信玄), who is one of the most famous Samurais in the Warring States period. Another theory says that Shingen Tsuba was given its name because its shape is similar to Shingen Bukuro (信玄袋, a small string bag made from cloth).
As mentioned above, this Tsuba has a distinctive design of Shingen Tsuba; the decoration of wires. Brass and iron wires are arranged alternately. Although several brass colors flaked off due to aging, it still shows the color contrast of black and gold.

What is Tsuba?
Tsuba is the hand-guard of the Japanese sword. High-class Samurai wore his katana sword with its beautiful sword mountings such as Tsuba. Tsuba’s front design tends to be more decorative as this part was often seen by other Samurais when he was walking on the streets.

Shipping Delivery
After confirming full payment from you, we will ship your item. We ship via EMS, international shipping carrier based in Japan. It will normally takes 5-14 days for the item to arrive at your given address after we dispatch it. We will inform your tracking number via eBay.
Time of delivery is estimated as accurately as possible by the carrier but does not take into account any delays beyond our control such as by inclement weather, post office holiday seasons.
