Iron Soten Style tsuba decorated with Uji-gawa Senjin.
This is well know event during battle of Uji river during Genpei War. Kajiwara Kagesue and Sasaki Takatsuna were competing with each other to see which one would cross Uji river and reach the enemy first.
Iron sukashi tsuba with silver and gold inlay. Gold is applied with nunome zogan technique. It is very rare to see rim decorated with this technique in such a good condition. In majority of cases there is almost no gold left on the rim.
Made in late Edo period.
