    Description

Iron sukashi tsuba attributed by NBTHK to Kanayama School. There are no verified information on time and place where Kanayama tsuba were made. However even in edo period they where considered very old. That is why modern researchers date them from Oei period (1394 -1428) to Genki period (1570-1573).
This tsuba is decorated with nigaibishi, family mon often depicted on items during muromachi period and wild boar eye.
Unfortunately not all of this tsuba is original. Iron in one spot has been replaced and is not as old as the rest of the tsuba. I will circle it in black on the last photo. It is near a place with visible scratches on seppa dai.
Classic Kanayama tekkotsu on the rim.
    Size: 75mm x 75 mm x 6 mm
