LARGE ANTIQUE GOLD DOG SHOW MEDAL SAINT HUBERT CLUB 21ST JULY 1880 HOUND TERRIER

Description

This is a large original antique gold plated probably on silver or bronze dog show medal, inscribed on the front "Societe De Saint Hubert Bruxelles 21st Juillet 1880", to the rear is a very ornate Club emblem, the medal is signed by the artist "Hart" it is in very good original condition, the medal has its original ornate suspension loop to the top, the overall size of medal is approx. 4" high including loop and is 2.5" inches in diameter.
The Saint Hubert Club (Belgian Kennel Club/European Dog Show) held its second ever exhibition/dog show in July 1880, it was held in Belgium from July 21st to July 25th 1880 and over 1000 dogs where entered, this superb very large medal is one of three that we currently have for sale on ebay that where issued for Champion dogs at this show.  It is a very rare large early Dog Show medal.
