    chip carving knives are exceptional, the 3/4 inch angled blade gives you control to chip carve and get into little places for close carvings.  At least that is my interpretation of a fine wood carving knife.  This is also used for very small carving into wood, assuming you are doing detail of chip carving.  stays sharp and a small rubbing onto  a piece of leather allows it to keep sharp too.  Try one and let me know.  I will answer any questions you might have about carving.  stay safe....
