About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. Mobile Filtered Water Where did you get the inspiration for your product? We searched high and low for a filtered bottle that was beautiful, easy to use and a pleasure to drink from, but we couldn’t find one. So we decided to make our own. After 18 months of brainstorming, sketching, prototyping and generally obsessing over every detail, we’ve found the answer. We call it Nava. What differentiates your product from similar products out there? First, Nava's spout is always covered when in use. Other leading filtered bottles have their spouts exposed to dirt and germs when in use. Nava also makes ordinary tap water taste great by filtering as you sip, "suck". Most filtered bottles are unusable because they require you to suck really hard to pull water through the filter. Nava has a patented custom coconut filter that purifies water as you sip and is easy to pull water through. It’s also super stylish and packed with innovation. Tell us about the and most challenging parts of the creation process. KOR never decides to develop a hydration product unless we see a clear pain point in existing products that we can improve upon. With Nava, we sought to create a design-driven bottle that both looked great and worked great. The biggest challenge was engineering a straw and spout apparatus that combined with a all-natural coconut shell filter would allow you to easily hydrate without sucking so hard. We custom developed over 28 filters before we arrived at Nava's great filter. Our hard efforts paid off as Nava launched with global success on Kickstarter and proceeded to win Inc Magazine's 2014 Product of the Year Award.
