    Description

This carving knife is hand made . Blades are Laurin high Carbon steel. They are made in Finland .They hold a edge well. These blades are used by top knife manufactures . One blade is 84mm or  3 5/16 long Rockwell Hardness of 59. The other blade is 62mm or 2 3/8 long. It is Laurin PT blade Progressive Temper at 63 Rockwell Hardness. I am really impressed with the PT blade. Blades are just over 5/8 at base .130 thick. The PT blade brings up the price of knife some. The handle is made of Dymondwood. Dymondwood was made by Rutland plywood which burnt down in 2014. Dymondwood is almost impossible to get now. It is made from dyed hardwood veneers glued with epoxy and high heat. It is a very hard and dense material. It will not float in water. It will develop a very high shine, due to the high epoxy content. This Dymondwood layup was called Field & Stream. The handle is  5 inches long . I wanted to make a knife that I could change blades . Makes it easy to sharpen blade too . Just loosen set screw run blade out some to sharpen. I did sharpen the blades but can be worked more for looks . Blades come to me in rough unfinished condition . The blades fit in the handle with a snug fit . Set screw will just secure it from moving in and out . Not much pressure needed to snug set screw . Both brass ends are epoxied and pinned .g10 knife liner material between brass and wood . Comes with the two blades and allen wrench .
